Moving To A New House – The Best Time To Relocate!

So, you’ve found the perfect place and are you’re ready to book your removal firm, but when is the best time to move to your new home? Here are some things to consider when booking your removal.

Starting Your Move Early In The Day

Moving to a new home can take a considerable amount of time, especially if your new property is a significant distance away. With this in mind, starting the move as early as possible in the morning will provide you enough time to comfortably complete the move, unpack some key items (such as tea kettle, pots and pans and bedding etc ) whilst minimising the stresses caused by “rushing around”, trying to get everything done in a matter of hours.

Starting the move early also provides more time to deal with any last-minute issues that could arise on the day of the move itself, giving you a vital “buffer” to address any immediate problems.

Moving During The Middle Of The Week

Although moving over the weekend seems the more logical option, completing the move during the week offers several benefits. Firstly, transporting your belongings outside of rush-hour, commuting and retail shopping times ensures a quicker and smoother journey to your new home, especially if it is further away and will take some time to get there.

Secondly, your Estate Agent, Solicitor and Bank Manager are much more likely to be reachable during working hours in the rare event you need to contact one of them. Nothing is more stressful than trying to exchange properties over the weekend if a complication arises that another party needs to address but isn’t available to assist.

Avoiding Seasonal Holidays

We advise customers to avoid moving during bank holidays and festive holiday periods throughout the year. Attempting to move during these busier times often results in a greater demand for van hire and professional removal firms throughout the country. This means you might not find the most suitable, experienced, and reliable firm to help you relocate.

In addition to this, travel and logistics may take longer and prove increasingly unreliable due to greater demand on travel networks, couriers and other logistics companies.

In conclusion, though it might be tempting to move during “sociable hours” over the weekend to avoid booking time off work, relocating properties during the week, as early as possible in the morning is often the smarter choice when moving to your new home. Back To List
